Sometimes, boring is good...

Sorry for the lack of updates, but there hasn't been anything to update on...which is a very good thing!! Riley is doing great, and getting excited for summer to start. She's at the point where she likes school, but is getting tired of going...she informed us she only has 2 more letters to learn and then school is over. They went over the letter X last week, so now she says "Y and Z and then we are free!!" Where does she come up with this stuff?

So, that's all I got...nothing really blog-worthy, but I felt bad for not writing last week. Hope you all have a great week, and I will work on getting some new pictures up. Riley's Bees were out in full force for Hallettsville's Relay for Life last weekend, so I need to post those pictures.

Happy Monday!!

Steroid week is upon us again

Riley had her monthly clinic visit yesterday, and due to it being the Monday after a Holiday it was a very slow day. But Riley was a champ, and everything went great. She has been feeling so great lately...mostly because she got an extra week off from chemo. She should have gone to clinic last week, but we were off enjoying ourselves at Disneyworld...so it was a vacation for her, in more ways than one. The bad news is that she now has to return in 3 weeks instead of 4, to help get us back on track.
All of her lab counts were great, her ANC was 1,500 & something - the actual # escapes me at this moment but it was in the 1500 range. They did raise the amount of Bactrim she gets, the antibiotic she takes 3 days of every week, because she has been growing like a weed. She weighs 23 kilograms, which is right at 50 pounds...she started out her journey weighing 16 kilograms (35 pounds). She is a growing girl!!
So, we will now go forth and persevere through another trying week of steroids. Although, I don't really feel like I have the right to complain, because it could be much worse. At least she is here with us, grouchy and all. I am still so heartbroken over all the little kids who have lost their cancer battles. It seems like every time I read a new blog, or carepage someone else has become an angel. I can't even imagine. Yesterday was sweet Erin's funeral, and she and her family were on my mind all day. Please keep them in your prayers. Some good news is that Paige is once again in remission...Go Paige!! Let's hope Drew's stem cells kick Keke out for good!!!!!!
This Friday is Hallettsville's Relay for Life, so if you are in the area come out to the football field and visit with us. Riley's Bees will be there in full force, and doing all we can to sting out childhood cancer!! There's still time if you want to make a donation to help us out...click here to visit my online page. Thanks to all of you who have made donations, and gotten us closer to our goal. Every little bit helps!!

Have a great week...and come see us Friday night!!

Stupid Cancer...

I was catching up on some of my favorite blogs from the past week, and discovered that sweet little Erin Buenger passed away last Thursday from Neuroblastoma. She was so full of life, and so spunky...I am so sad for this family. I briefly met Erin's mom Vickie in clinic one day, but never had the pleasure of meeting Erin in person. But, from what I've read I know there is no way I could have kept up with her...especially in the kitchen.
I very strongly dislike this stupid thing called Cancer...we have got to find a cure. Please pray for the sweet Buenger family...their world has just been turned upside down.

I'm working on getting the Disney pictures up...check back later.

Checking in...

Hello from Florida!! We are having a blast, and being treated like royalty everywhere we go. We did 3 days worth of the Disney parks, and went to Universal Studios today. Tomorrow we are going to Sea World, and then head home on Friday. The weather has been great, it was a little cold yesterday, and fairly cool today...but tomorrow will be warm again. The crowds have been out of control...this is supposedly the busiest week of the whole year. That's our luck!!
We have a ton of cute pictures...I will work on getting them uploaded somewhere this weekend. We hope everyone has a Hoppy Easter!!
